2015 MTV Video Music Awards: Top 4 best bits

 

Last night, the 30th August 2015 celebrated the 32nd installment of the MTV Video Music Awards. Hosted by Miley Cyrus, it was bound to be controversial and a little bit crazy! Taylor Swift received the most nominations with ten, followed by her BFF Ed Sheeran who got six. Kendrick Lamar did pretty ok too with four nominations for his video ‘Alright’ but had thirteen mentions overall with his involvement in Taylor Swifts video ‘Bad Blood’ and Flying Lotus’ “Never Catch Me”.

Here are our top four craziest moments of this major A-listers event.

 

1. Miley Cyrus. Full stop.

From her near-naked appearance on Jimmy Kimmel last week and her completely nude (but privates covered with emojis) selfie on instagram, she definitely attracted attention and had everyone sceptical of what she would be rocking at the awards as host! Unfortunately, she left us cringing. She really seems to be going from bad to worse with her choice of clothing. One thing is for sure though, she’s a businesswoman who will do anything to have people talking about her, and it works…. Even if she has no dignity or self-respect left afterwards. (We said it, yeah but you were thinking it…) 

 

 

2. Kanye West announced he’s running for president in 2020.

 

 

Kind of speechless on this one. After recent rumours he pushes wife Kim Kardashian to wear ‘sexier outfits’ and previously bought her a whole new wardrobe and threw out all her clothes on reality show ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’, he will probably have big fashion advice for the US. Please god don’t force them to wear your horrible fashion range. Soz Kanye but you need to stick to rap.

On a lighter note, he’s not as bad as Donald Trump so that’s a plus. Also, him and Taylor Swifty seem to have rekindled some sort of a friendship after his legendary interruption of her speech at the same event but seven years prior!

 

3. Justin Bieber cried like a baby, baby, baby oooohh.

Ah no. It’s fine, he can cry. I guess he’s been through a lot. He has a tough life that boy, he’s only worth $200 million. We must give credit where credit is due, he did a good job of performing ‘Where are you now’ and new single, ‘What do you mean’. Hopefully his break has sorted him out and he’ll make wiser decisions now. Hugs before drugs Bieber, hugs before drugs.

 

4. Nicki Minaj made a friend and an enemy in one night.

After the recent spat Nicki and Taylor Swift had on twitter, everyone was a bit worried about what would happen when they were in close proximity of one another. Nicki is FEISTY. But during Taylor’s performance of ‘Bad Blood’, we were all surprised by Nicki joining in and the two of them making it very clear they were top mates again.

 

All was good until Nicki accepted the moonman for ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ with Anaconda and followed up her thank yous with this for Miley “Now, back to this b—h that had a lot to say about me in the press the other day….Miley what’s good?”. Fierce.

 

Fortunately, Miley kept her cool and continued to host while Nicki stayed on the sidelines shouting abuse into her muted microphone at the ‘Wrecking Ball’ popstar. God only knows what she was ranting about.

 

 

So what else happened? Miley dropped her new album ‘Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz’ (???) … for free! Taylor Swift debuted her video for ‘Wildest Dreams’. Demi Lovato performed with Iggy Azalea. Andddd Kanye actually looked like he was enjoying himself for once!

It was one eventful night. We can’t wait for next year!
